The NYA is a national charity, providing guidance and support to youth workers to enable them to deliver high quality youth work. This helps young people develop their voice, influence, and place within society.

The NYA is also the Professional Statutory and Regulatory Body (PSRB) for youth work in England, responsible for setting the standards and quality of youth work provision and accrediting all professional training courses.
