Map of Hungarian Nuclear Sites

Hungary heavily relies on nuclear power, which supplies nearly half of its electricity. The Paks Nuclear Power Plant is the country’s sole nuclear facility, situated in central Hungary. It’s been operational since the 1980s and currently has four reactors. To meet future energy demands and reduce carbon emissions, Hungary has committed to expanding its nuclear capacity. The Paks II project aims to construct two additional reactors, boosting electricity production and enhancing energy security. Despite some public opposition and environmental concerns, Hungary views nuclear energy as a crucial element of its strategy to ensure a stable, low-carbon energy supply. Find out where the country’s nuclear sites are located, and what goes on at each of them, on our interactive map of Hungarian nuclear sites.
