Directors are senior management who oversee managers and a department.
Typical duties and responsibilities of a Director or Manager
Directors:
- Formulating business strategies and suggesting approaches for execution by developing business plans, budgets, and timelines.
- Engaging with company executives and board members for effective communication, and cultivating relationships with shareholders.
- Conducting evaluations of managerial performance, including enforcing adherence to company and legal standards.
- Ensuring adequate resources for managers, supporting identification and resolution of team conflicts.
- Supervising departmental and functional performance holistically.
Managers:
- Hiring and instructing new employees.
- Defining departmental and individual goals and objectives.
- Supervising personnel to aid task completion, plus regularly evaluating staff performance through reviews.
- Providing guidance, counselling, and disciplinary action.
- Upholding safety and legal protocols, whilst also implementing and enforcing company policies.
- Reporting progress, requirements, and developments to upper management.

How do I become a Director / manager?
