Map of Finnish Nuclear Sites

Finland’s nuclear industry is a cornerstone of its energy policy. It aims to reduce carbon emissions and ensure a stable energy supply. Finland operates two nuclear power plants, Loviisa and Olkiluoto, providing around 30% of the country’s electricity. Olkiluoto 3, a third reactor, began commercial operation in 2022 and is one of the world’s most powerful nuclear reactors. The construction of a final disposal facility for spent nuclear fuel in Olkiluoto underscores Finland’s commitment to safe, long-term waste management. Despite global debates on nuclear power, Finland remains a proponent, integrating nuclear energy into its sustainable future. Find out where the country’s nuclear sites are located, and what goes on at each of them, on our interactive map of Finnish nuclear sites.
