Map of Spanish Nuclear Sites

Spain’s nuclear power sector plays a significant role in the country’s energy landscape. The nation currently operates seven nuclear reactors across five power plants, which collectively contribute about 20% of Spain’s electricity generation. These reactors are primarily located in the regions of Catalonia, Extremadura, and Castile-La Mancha. Spain’s commitment to nuclear power is part of a broader strategy to reduce carbon emissions and reliance on fossil fuels. However, the future of nuclear energy in Spain faces uncertainty due to aging infrastructure and shifting political priorities towards renewable energy sources such as wind and solar power. Find out where the country’s nuclear sites are located, and what goes on at each of them, on our interactive map of Spanish nuclear sites.
